T20 World Cup 2012 Champions

West Indies are the T20 World Cup 2012 champions. A final match can't get better than this one between West Indies and Sri Lanka. It was never anybody's match till 30 overs in the match have been bowled.

It was a extremely slow and scary start from the West Indies today. They score some 30 odd runs in the first   10 overs after loosing couple of wickets. I was thinking to switch off the TV as it was so boring to watch. But Marlon Samuels, what a man, changed it completely. He hit sixes at his will. Scoring 39 from 15 balls of Malinga doesn't happen everyday. Sammy did score good quick runs towards the end and Sri Lanka was set a target of 139 in 20 overs.

Sri Lanka started well in the first overs but lost Dilshan to Ravi Rampaul on the first ball of the second over. But Mahela  Jayawardane and Kumar Sangakara batted cautiously and were ticking around runs easily. But brilliant spin bowling changed the game all in a flash. And Sri Lanka never recovered once Sanga was out.

So there were times in this match when both teams had their chances and looked strong. But it was West Indies who came out winner in the end. Its the first time in two decades West Indies have won any major ICC tournament. I am sure that it will matter a lot to them.

Here are few moments from the match. (Courtsey BBC, CricInfo)
