Guwahati Molestation Case: Nothing but a shame

Are we living in Goon’s World

It’s been 4 days now since the incident occurred. For those who don’t know here is some detail. On 16th July, a teen girl studying in 11th was molested by a mob in Guwahati, Assam. She was leaving from a hotel/bar after attending birthday party of a friend. As soon as she left from the bar those criminals started abusing and then had a fight with that lonely girl. The girl asked for help but there was nobody to help. The incident continued for almost 30 minutes before police arrived.

Is there anything seriously wrong with these people? Have they done anything exceptional here? I really don’t understand how in the world people get together to commit such a serious crime. Are we living in a time when such a huge number of people are just insane? What should be the punishment for those criminals? They haven’t done any rape but the act is nothing less than a murder I would say. The police rescued the girl from the mob but haven’t succeeded yet to get hold of all the offenders. If girls are not safe in a city like Guwahati what to say about smaller towns and villages, are they any safe? Every coming day seems more unsafe than the previous day.

It’s high time for all the citizens to wake up and raise the voice against such heinous acts. We all need to be active not only inside the house or office but all around. Its a shame that nobody even tried to save the girl from those crooks. We have enough laws in place but action on those laws is almost negligible. If the guilty is not punished such offends will keep on happening. Every now and then we hear such kind of scandals. We need to help the community. If we kept mum like this, soon a time will come when we will not be able to get out of our homes. Are we waiting for such a situation to arise, before we act?

The need of the hour is to punish the lawbreakers. If the punishment is a tad higher than needed, it would be good to start with. Otherwise it is tough to say what else we will see in time to come. Wake up India, before it’s too late.

Looking at others can resolve an issue, but looking at self will surely resolve the issue.
